Quality Improvement Supports (formerly Training, Technical Assistance and Professional Development)

What is the Program?  Early education programs have an opportunity to help children develop to their full potential.  Children who attend high quality programs are more likely to be provided lasting benefits. ELC’s contract service providers Family Central, Inc. (FCI) and the Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) offer technical assistance, education, training and support services to help child care providers improve the quality of care they offer.  The services include the use of the Quality Rating System as an organizing mechanism for overall quality improvement.  Services include onsite technical assistance and consultation on inclusion strategies child care providers may need to effectively serve children with developmental delays or diagnosed disabilities.  In addition, assistance is provided regarding health issues of the children served.

Who’s Eligible for Services? Priority is given to Broward County early care and education sites serving children birth through 5 years of age.  Through Quality Improvements and Supports, any legally operating provider of early care and education services in Broward County is eligible to access training specific to their needs at no cost.

What is the Process for Services? After receiving an environment rating through the Quality Rating System, providers are directed (as services are available) to receive services such as; assistance to become accredited, quality coaching and mentoring, priority for scholarships for staff members, Child Development Associate (CDA) mentoring, and group trainings to address needs determined in the environment rating.  Providers are also given access to the Resource Library where they can find current information on how to prepare children for school.
