How to Scaffold Learning and Stretch Children’s Thinking: Quality of Feedback in Pre-K - Part 1

About the Event

Please contact elcbtraining@elcbroward.org if you have questions or need assistance.

Fostering children’s thinking skills creates new understandings for children in the preschool classroom. Learn how effective Quality of Feedback is essential to provide high-quality teacher-child interactions. Experience ways to use language to cultivate thinking skills in your students by attending this training.

By the end of this training, participants will:
1. Recognize why it is essential to pay attention to children’s level of understanding and build on it with intentional Quality of Feedback exchanges
2. Describe how to help children reach a new level of understanding by providing hints and assistance
3. Explain how follow-up questions, maintaining back-and-forth exchanges, and teacher persistence help children expand thinking skills (feedback loops)
4. List ways to reflect on daily interactions between teachers and children to ensure they are providing quality and effective feedback
