Job Description
The Assistant Director works in coordination with the Director of Early Education to provide daily oversight for all programs within the department. This includes assisting with all aspects of compliance and program regulation, accreditation, licensing, staffing and professional development, curriculum, quality control, budgeting, visitors, volunteers, parent and public relations. The Assistant Director manages staff schedules, provides classroom support and leadership as well as other components of day-to-day operations in the such as ensuring NAEYC Accreditation Standards are met, as well as School Readiness and VPK standards. The Assistant Director provides program oversight when the Director is not available. Program Support 1. Ensure that scheduling for program staff is done daily 2. Maintain quality program (accreditation, licensing, continuing training) with Early Education Team 3. Provide support and guidance with the Curriculum, TSG, ASQ, VPK assessments and use of classroom technology. 4. Support teachers with professional development 5. Identify areas of opportunity and provide in-service trainings or schedule appropriate speaker. 6. Assist in the hiring, supervising and evaluation of staff. 7. Provide supervision of teaching staff, assist with 90 day evaluations and Annual Performance Reviews. 8. Assist teachers in understanding and developing child and classroom portfolio 9. Assist in the management of program budget and grants Classroom Support and Enhancements 1. Support, develops, and enhances classroom activities by monitoring and ensuring the following of their daily schedules, lesson plans, DAP, disciplinary policy, etc.) 2. Provide regular observations for classrooms with follow-up plan. 3. Identify children academically “at risk” and determine groups based on academic need. 4. Provide daily classroom support. Be self-motivated in increasing knowledge and skills by attending staff meetings, workshops, and reading literature related to the field of child development, organizations, fundraising and interpersonal relationship. Must be certified in CPR/First Aid within 30 days of hire MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Organizational Leadership or related fields. Florida Director’s Credential VPK Endorsement Minimum 3 years’ leadership experience Accreditation experience preferred
