The A’s of Addressing Behavior - Part 1

This is the first session in a two-part training series. Part 2 is on Thursday, 12/9/2021.
Participants have to register for and attend both sessions in order to receive a certificate of participation with in-service hours.
The first part of this training reviews the definition and the neurobiology of attachment. In addition, the types of attachment as well as their short-term and long term impact on child and adult well-being are addressed. Ways in which educators can support secure attachment in the early childhood education setting are discussed.
By the end of this training, participants will:
1. Define attachment and name the 4 components of attachment
2. Identify two ways in which secure and insecure attachment impact children’s short and long term well-being
3. Describe the role early childhood educators play as attachment figures and two ways they can engage with children to support secure attachment and manage separation anxiety
4. Describe the tenants of positive discipline and the short and long-term effects on children’s mental health and well-being
5. Identify 3 strategies for preventing unwanted behavior in young children as well as 3 strategies to intervene when unwanted behavior occurs

Attendance Policy: Participants missing more than 15 minutes of total training time will NOT receive a certificate of participation. Please be prepared to arrive on time and stay until the end of the training. Participants who leave the training early will not receive credit for the training.
PLEASE NOTE: Registration is required. Participants who arrive 15 minutes late to this training will not be admitted. Participants MUST complete both the post test and training evaluation to receive a certificate of participation.
