Setting up for Success: Creating Classroom Spaces and Fostering Engagement (To promote positive social-emotional skills and prevent challenging behaviors)

This session will provide participants with guidelines for setting up their classroom using evidence-based practices that will foster positive social skills and help prevent challenging behaviors. Strategies to increase children’s engagement with their learning environment and promote positive social interactions will be reviewed. TATS Rock Your Classroom resource will be shared and examples of tiered levels of support for children with special needs will be provided.

By the end of this training, participants will:
1. Describe how to set up classroom spaces using evidence-based practices that will foster positive social skills and help prevent challenging behaviors.
2. Share how to increase children’s engagement with their learning environment and promote positive social interactions.
3. Explain the tiered levels of support when working with children with special needs.   

Trainer: Suzanne Ekelund, TATS Southeast Regional Facilitator, University of Central Florida  

This training will take place on Zoom and will require a second registration. After registering, you will receive an email with a link to complete the second registration in Zoom.
