Trying, Timing and Thriving in Children's Development – Part 1

About the Event

Please contact elcbtraining@elcbroward.org if you have questions or need assistance.

This is the first session in a two-part training series. The second session will take place on Saturday, 10/30/2021. Participants have to register for and attend both sessions in order to receive a certificate of participation with in-service hours.

This training will present information regarding the development of children, prenatally through age five. The presentation addresses factors related to child development (both risk and protective), and highlights the important roles of attachment, play and nature in the child development process. Each of the developmental domains (sensory, cognitive, gross and fine motor, communication, social-emotional) are discussed, both from the perspective of understanding what they encompass, as well as gaining knowledge on age-appropriate milestones and how parents can support their children in reaching such milestones.

By the end of this training, participants will:
1. Identify 3 factors that influence child development
2. Describe each of the 6 domains of early childhood development and name at least 2 ways in which they can support healthy child development in each domain
3. Explain 2 ways in which play and nature support early child development
