School Readiness (SR) 13th Day Professional Development

The School Readiness (SR) 13th Day is a voluntary, reimbursable professional development day available to SR-contracted providers.

Providers who choose to use the 13th holiday as a staff training day must designate it as "Staff Training Day" in Exhibit 6 of their SR Contract.

The Staff Training Day is considered a holiday closure.

The Early Learning Coalition (ELC) will reimburse providers at their regular reimbursement rate for each enrolled child based on the child's authorized schedule for that day.

Reimbursement Requirements Before the Training

To be eligible for reimbursement, providers must submit a training agenda to the ELC at least 30 days prior to the training date for review and approval. The agenda must include:

*Training topic(s)

*Training schedule and times (must be 50% of your operational hours)

* Alignment to applicable standards

Each training topic must align with at least one of the following:

*Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards https://flbt5.floridaearlylearning.com/

*Florida Standards and Key Competencies https://www.flvpkonline.org/OEL/_media/FCDA/content/documents/DirectorsPDStandards.pdf

*Department of Children and Families trainings can be accessed at https://childcaretraining.myflfamilies.com/studentsite/admin/signin

After the Training

Providers must submit a sign-in sheet documenting attendance by at least 75% of SR child care personnel.

ELC staff will verify attendance against the provider's most current QPS Staff Roster to determine reimbursement eligibility.

If a provider chooses to observe only 12 holidays during the program year, the 13th Day process is not required.
